Weekend Missions began its Medical Ministry in June 2009. Joining forces with Dr. George Stavros and his wife Susie, who is also an RN, we held our first medical clinic for the people of Rocky Point. Dr. Stavros has been active in this area of ministry for several years. Dr. Stavros is retired and spends half of his time in Rocky Point and the other half in Phoenix. He still does flight physicals on a regular basis here in Phoenix.

Trip #1 June 2009 - provided care to 75+ patients with the help of Dr. Stavros, and 2 other providers, 3 RNs and several other volunteers that helped with caring and playing with the children while other family members saw the medical team.

Trip #2 August 2009 - was spent visiting several of the cancer patients there in Rocky Point. We assessed their most immediate needs and helped as much as possible to provide food, remedies, etc. for nutritional issues.

Trip #3 was another successful medical clinic with 2 providers, 2 RNs, 1- EMT and some of the gang from Childrens ministry again&..we treated 150+ patients!

The GOAL is clear......the Medical Ministry is very much needed and growing! Are you ready to open your heart and serve with your professional gift of Healthcare? It WILL change you!
Currently, there are FOUR main areas of need for the Medical Ministry. Every trip we assess the community needs at that time and as a group do whatever we can to meet the most urgent needs first. The need for Medical care is always there and with each trip we recieve even more indications of future needs, etc.
  1. Standing or Mobile Medical Clinics.
  2. Rehabilitation / Physical Therapy Center.
  3. Cancer Patient Visits.
  4. Womens Shelter and Rehab. Center.
