•Marta’s House

This project was our only construction project on this trip, but that actually worked quite well for our group of volunteers, providing most everyone the opportunity to work together on one Weekend Mission’s project - an opportunity that has not happened in a long, long time. Marta is a mother of six, and although married, Marta and her husband do not have much. A small two room house was provided for the family several years back, and although greatly appreciated and most needed, we found that it was serving as a mere roof over their heads and not a real home. Our project involved adding drywall and insulation, to provide warmth and protection from the weather, along with repairs to the roof and framing for the bathroom. Marta’s current bathroom consists of four slabs of miscellaneous items used as walls with a blanket draped over-top.

•Vida Nueva Church

A group of volunteers assisted members of the Vida Nueva Church with children’s activities, while also providing lunch and treats for the children who attend the Saturday morning services. Snow cones were a big hit, along with the entertainment of playing games with our volunteers.

•Pastor Lupe’s Church

A few of our volunteers had a unique experience to be invited to the children’s activities at Pastor Lupe’s Church. Singing and dancing were performed for the children of the neighborhood, which was a true privilege for us to experience. The energy and faith generated through that hour reached far around the area. Pastor Lupe also drove us to meet his Teen Group, which helped us get an insight as to some of the problems the local teens are facing in Mexico. The teens who choose to be part of this group are a dynamic, strong few, and we must continue to pray for their walks with the Lord and their commitments with the church.
